Introduction to C6C "Antique Mods"
The rising price of precious metals has people selling inherited pocketwatches for the scrap value of the cases, leaving the beautiful, unique dials and movements behind. These pieces are incredible works of art and engineering from a time where quality workmanship was highly valued. The phrase "they don't make 'em like they used to" has never been truer. The fact that these 100+ year-old movements still function is testament to that.
Code Six Customs gives you the opportunity to wear a piece of horological history on your wrist with the "Antique Mod" line. I source antique pocketwatch movements & dials from local jewelers and other reputable dealers, and mount them in modern stainless steel cases to create the perfect "marriage" of old and new (this is where the term "marriage watch" originated).
As 100+ year old antiques, the porcelain dials sometimes show patina which may include discoloration, chips, cracks, and/or crazing making each Antique-Mod 100% unique.
Each movement bears the original manufacturer's serial number, which determines the year of manufacture and other details about the movement.
Code Six Customs offers Antique-Mods in two grades.
PIONEER GRADE
Code Six Customs most affordable Antique-Mods, so-named because C6C broke through the ceiling of typical watch-modding to offer pocketwatch conversions to modding enthusiasts.
Pioneer Grade builds start with antique pocketwatch movements sourced from jewelers, antique shops and collectors. The Pioneer Grade features commercially available "watch-modding" cases, which are modified to accept and work with antique stems & crowns. The crown & stem on C6C Pioneer Grade builds does not lock into position like a modern wristwatch, so it must be manually manipulated for winding and setting.
CONNOISSEUR GRADE
Code Six Customs takes the Antique-Mod to the next level with full custom cases, stems, and crowns manufactured specifically for pocketwatch movements.
Connoisseur Grade Antique-Mods feature meticulously curated movements, dials and hands, and have locking stem functions just like a modern wristwatch. C6C Connoisseur Grade Antique-Mods are for the elite watch collector who doesn't compromise.
